red sadness
eyes too tired
for attention are
rimmed
with a red sadness
the maple limb,
tilting limp
from the tree is
rimmed with a
red sadness
the pock mark,
the excema, the
ringworm are
rimmed with a red
sadness
the way to drink
is blocked,
all doors
rimmed with
a red sadness
apples and oranges
are not rimmed
with a red sadness,
neither are tulips
or geraniums
this cat, restful, tail
curved and curled
seems rimmed with
no red and no
sadness
it seems half asleep
ready and not ready
in the midst and
slightly removed,
rimmed with blue
This is a blog of reviews, interviews, & commentary on writing that takes risks. Unsolicited work welcome. I am most interested not in evaluative pieces, but in creative pieces that explore what the reviewer learned from reading the book. Unsigned commentary is by the editor.
